Don’t Outsource Your Cape

I think that the greatest teachers help make us wise, showing us how to learn for ourselves. To adapt a quote, they teach us “how to think, not merely what to think.”

The greatest heroes show us how to save ourselves so we don’t have to keep “looking for Superman.”

The greatest healers teach us how to heal and take care of ourselves.

The greatest leaders show us how to shape our own affairs with wisdom, bravery, and confidence.

And maybe, just maybe, the greatest friends and lovers teach us how to love ourselves properly so that we lean less on codependent habits by being our own primary source of actualization.

But all of these work together to help us learn how to be whole, so that we can then pay it forward to other lives we touch.

The journey of Life, in part, is about self-actualization, individuation, liberation, empowerment, becoming whole. It’s about becoming Real like the Velveteen Rabbit. It’s about becoming our own Source. In other words —

Don’t outsource your cape.
